The Komunal Cafe, hidden away in the depths of Frankton, Queenstown, was the brainchild of two friends, Habib and Hanif, who were driven by a common passion for traditional authentic Malaysian food. We were once engineers, but we dared to dream of a vibrant Malaysian culture and shared our love for the rich flavors and spices of our homeland with the local community in the quaint town of Queenstown. So, we left our day jobs and decided to combine our love for cooking and engineering to create a culinary experience.

Bam! The Komunal Cafe NZ was born. Our cafe serves up a broad variety of wonderful and authentic Malaysian dishes, all of which are made with only the freshest ingredients, with original traditional recipes that passed down from generations and are Halal certified. Get ready to tantalize your taste buds with a culinary journey at our cafe.
